Kirby Bartlett
Kirby Bartlett, a first generation college student, graduated in 2018 from California State
University, Monterey Bay, with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science and a minor in Statistics. Kirby’s passion for research began when she was accepted into the competitive Monterey Bay Regional Ocean Sciences REU program at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories. This experience solidified her interest in a career in marine research, and prepared her for selection into NOAA’s Educational Partnership Program (EPP), a two year internship and scholarship. During her undergraduate career she contributed to five research projects, ranging from snorkeling streams in Washington to quantify the population dynamics of returning salmon, to modeling the effects of spatial factors on coral densities in Puerto Rico. Kirby is excited to use her skills in modeling to assess the potential for aquaculture of the coast of Brazil as apart of the Maricultura group project. Kirby serves as the data manager and financial manager for Maricultura. |
