Anna Calle
Anna Calle, a second-year graduate student, graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2018, with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies and a minor in Statistical Science. During her undergraduate career, Anna got involved in several projects dedicated to the conservation and restoration of vulnerable species populations. She interned as a Snowy Plover Docent at Coal Oil Point Reserve, educating beachgoers about the conservation efforts to protect the western snowy plover. Inspired by her internship, she became part of the Nancite Sea Turtle Monitoring Program in Santa Rosa National Park, Costa Rica. After returning to UCSB, she interned for the California Institute of Environmental Studies at the Channel Islands National Park to help restore the habitat of the California brown pelican. Due to her passion for conserving vulnerable species, Anna decided to pursue a graduate degree directly after her undergraduate career. At the Bren School, she is specializing in Conservation Planning with a focus on Environmental Data Science. Her goal is to develop effective management strategies that preserve the biodiversity of the natural world and ensure the well-being of our planet.
